The World’s First Mayonnaise Liqueur
Alright, you caught us. Chemist Mayo Liqueur isn’t actually real. We love pushing the boundaries of flavor, but even we have our limits. Consider this our cheeky April Fools’ prank – a spirited experiment from our lab of laughs. We hope you got a good chuckle imagining that creamy concoction glugging into your martini glass. But guess what? While Mayo Liqueur won’t be hitting the shelves, we did whip up something brilliantly bizarre that you can actually drink.
MEET THE BLTINI
A Real Cocktail Creation (No Joke)
Say hello to the BLTini, a cocktail that truly lets you drink your sandwich. This is 100% real and 200% delicious. The BLTini is our homage to the classic Bacon-Lettuce-Tomato sandwich, re-imagined by our playful chemists behind the bar. We’ve harnessed the power of fat-washing and botanical infusions to bring you a martini that’s savory, smoky, and surprisingly refreshing – basically a BLT in a glass.
How did we do it? We took Chemist Vodka and gave it the mad scientist treatment with bacon and a touch of mayo (yes, actual mayo) to create a rich, smoky bacon-fat washed vodka. Then we infused vermouth with ripe tomatoes and fragrant dill to mimic that juicy tomato & crisp lettuce vibe. Add a splash of our bright Chemist American Gin for complexity, shake it up, and voila: the BLTini is born. It’s the cocktail you never knew you needed, and unlike that Mayo Liqueur, this one’s for real.
THE BLTINI RECIPE
Ready to play home scientist and mix up this crazy cocktail? Here’s how to create the BLTini:
Fat-Washed Mayo Vodka: In a frying pan, cook 6 pieces of bacon until crispy. Strain off the hot bacon fat and pour the fat into one bottle of Chemist Vodka. Add 1 tablespoon of Duke’s mayonnaise into the bottle and give it a good shake. Let this meaty concoction sit at room temperature for about 1 hour, then pop the vodka bottle into the freezer overnight. After 24 hours, skim off and strain out any solid fats – what’s left is smooth, bacon-infused mayo vodka (trust us on this one).
Dill Tomato Vermouth: In a blender, combine 1 pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds, 1/4 teaspoon of peppercorns, and 1/2 cup of fresh dill. Pour in a bottle of bianco or blanc vermouth (sweet white vermouth) and blend until thoroughly mixed. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove solids. Store this tomato-dill vermouth in the fridge – it’s herbaceous, tangy, and ready to bring the “T” (tomato) to your BLTini.
BLTini Cocktail Build: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine 1.5 oz of your bacon fat-washed mayo vodka, 0.5 oz of a smooth American gin (we use Chemist American Gin for that extra botanical kick), and 1 oz of your prepared dill tomato vermouth. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds (shake it like you’re mixing salad dressing!) and then double strain into a chilled martini glass. No garnish needed – but if you’re feeling cheeky, you could rim the glass with a tiny sprinkle of salt and pepper, or float a micro sprig of dill on top. Now take a sip… BLT heaven, right?
This cocktail is seriously wild, in a “I can’t believe I’m drinking a BLT” kind of way. It’s the perfect conversation starter for your next cocktail party or a quirky addition to your home bar experiments. And unlike that Mayo Liqueur prank, the BLTini’s flavor will actually earn your respect.
